Jack Bangay (and vivacious wife Kay) must have felt it odd to be among the guests at the IoTA conference banquet and ball at Nottingham last Friday after so many years of carrying the organizing responsibility for such events. But having handed over the reins Jack hasn't been forgotten, as was demonstrated when president Frank White presented him with a cheque representing contributions from members, as a tribute to his leading part in the IoTA's growth.
Accepting the cheque, Jack urged members to give all possible support to his successor as secretary, Freddie Pywell (who, on the evidence of the smooth running event at Nottingham, is already doing a grand job). But Jack, who has joined his wife in their own private business, admitted that he got more real pleasure out of interviewing beauty consultants than in dealing with hornyhanded transport operators!
