WHEN delegates at Commercial Motor's 1970 Fleet Management Conference were asked their preferences for future conference sessions, four subjects received a clear majority. They were: the effect of legislation on future vehicles; the financial control of fleets; labour relations in transport; and the use of containers. Nothing that has occurred since then has caused us to question those clearly expressed choices, and these four subjects form the basis for CM's 1971 Conference. It will be held in London on Thursday September 16, and for the first time

will be at the Royal Lancaster Hotel where we are assured of first-class facilities.

To present the four subjects we have been fortunate in securing the services of very experienced and able speakers, as the accompanying programme makes clear. I am happy to say that Lord Chesham has again agreed to be our chairman, while Mr John Peyton, Minister for Transport Industries, has consented to open the conference; we may expect to hear some important comments from him about transport and the environment.

Despite steeply rising costs we have managed to keep the all-in fee down to £10.50 and we hope that the event will, as in past years, qualify for training grant.

We are opening the conference for bookings immediately, and I urge those who are interested in attending to use the accompanying form to make reservations with our associated administration company without delay. I am sure we can guarantee another lively and valuable Fleet Management Con ference the eighth in this successful series.
