• Stanley (Durham) urban council has approved layout plans by its surveyor, Mr R. H. Snowball, for a new bus station. Meanwhile, Seaham urban council has been allocated a 25 per cent Government grant towards the building of a bus station near the town's civic centre. The scheme will cost £36,000 and work will start soon.
• Elderly and disabled Teessiders may use their half-fare passes for longer periods on the municipality's buses from July 1. The pass will be available from 9.30 am-30 minutes earlier than at present—until 4 pm and after 6 pm on Mondays to Fridays.
