Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A CANOPIED vehicle with sidemounted loading platforms that can traverse the full length of the body is one of a number of vehicles being used at the sixth Austin Commercial Show at Longbridge (which closes on May 28) in repeat demonstrations of building a 14,000 bungalow. The average time taken is.little more than 20 minutes.

Produced by H. C. Pope Ltd., of Wolverhampton, the Hipope 10-cwt. platforms are eleetro-hydraulically operated and the traversing mechanism can greatly Facilitate load distribution in many applications. The chassis is an El K140.

Also recently introduced by the same company. Hipope collapsible wheeled stillages are shown by York Trailer Co., Ltd. on a City Van fitted with a Hipope electro-hydraulic tailboard lift, the trailer being coupled to an FF K240 prime mover. Ten collapsed stillages occupy he space of two loaded stillages.

In addition to the vehicles used in the demonstration to provide easy handling of the incremental units, exhibits of Mechanical handling interest are more numerous this year than at past shows, and range from a variety of craneequipped vehicles to easily demountable bodies and containers.

A special drop-sided, all-steel tipping body built by Welford Engineering (Oldbury) Ltd„ Oldbury, Staffs, and seen mounted on an FF K140 chassis, was designed for the handling of scrap metal, a front-mounted Hiab crane being equipped with a grab attachment.

Intended for the disposal of flotsam, a scow-ended floatable container is displayed by Voss Motors Ltd. mounted on an F.1 K100-based all-steel body Ina by the P.E.G. Engineering Co. Ltd. The wheeled container will be employed in conjunction with a tipping vehicle equipped with a winch for transferring the container from the jetty. Secured by turnbuckle tensioners, the body will be tipped by high-lift ram gear to discharge the refuse on the disposal site.

Seen some years ago at the Scottish Show in prototype form, a demountable goods container is being demonstrated by A. C. Penman Ltd., Dumfries. This is a ramp-unloading type and has retractable side support members fitted with improved types of roller mechanism and locking plate. The container is of aluminium construction and is transferred to an ET K140 chassis fitted with a Penman platform body. It is reported that Belgian and French operators have shown a keen interest in the system.

Exhibited by the makers, Abelson and Co. (Engineering) Ltd., Birmingham, the Swop body system provides for selfunloading of any type of bodywork on the lift-up-and-legs-down principle, the hydraulic mechanism and sub-frame being mounted on an FH K160 chassis. Recent modifications have included the use of spring-loaded legs having fastthread retracting mechanism which simplifies the lowering operation.

A very recent addition to the range of hattery-eleetrics manufactured by Austin Crompton Parkinson Electric Vehicles Ltd., the E-type Mk. Ii dairy vehicle has an all-plastics body and an extra deep windscreen designed to ensure that children in front of the vehicle are readily seen by the driver. The machine has a crapacity of 20-25 cwt., a top speed of about 16 m.p.h. and a range of 30 miles. A 2-cu.-yd. refuse tipping vehicle is displayed by the same company on a BM 10-15 cwt. electric chassis, the tipping gear of which comprises an hydraulic ram elevated by a manually-operated pump

A latecomer to the Show, a new 100 m.p.h. ambulance, is exhibited by Charles Clark and Sons Ltd. on an Austin A110 chassis and is particularly suitable for those authorities with a section of motorway in their areas.
