Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO interesting examples of mobile equipment have made their debut at the International Construction Equipment Exhibition at Crystal Palace, which closes today. (A preview of many of the exhibits was published last week.) New from John Allen and Sons (Oxford) Ltd. is a 15-ton mobile crane mounted on an Allen heavy-duty cranecarrier chassis: the main frame is constructed of 20 in. by 6.5 in. steel joists. A Leyland 0.600 diesel engine drives the road wheels through a five-speed gearbox and doubledrive rear axles, giving road speedsup to 27.5 m.p.h. Power-assisted steering is standard.

Power for the crane is derived from a Ford 592E sixcylinder diesel engine developing 75.5 b.h.p. at 1,800 r.p.m. Constructed in high-yield-stress, square tubular steel, the boom folds for travelling and is 30 ft. long. Three extra sections 10 ft. long can be carried on the chassis. Controls are air-operated and the crane is fitted with twin-hoist drums: the main drum is equipped With both power and gravity loivering. The crane can lift 3 tons with a 100 ft. jib luffed to 25 ft. radius.

Higher Capacities

The second newcomer is an 11-ton-capacity DempsterDinosaur exhibited by Powell Duffryn on a Leyland Super Cornet chassis. It is shown with a flat demountable body designed for plant movetnent, and with an open-top container. This' 11S model and another new version, the 13-ton Model 13T, together supersede the 9-1-ton 22000T type.
