was commonly said by local wiseacres that tractors could not be sold in Devon, and even to-day some are reluctant to admit the headway that is being made. Actually, tractors are much in evidence in the county. At the Devon County Show at Paignton, which opened on Wednesday and closes to-day, most of the leading makes are represented.
The International Harvester Co. of Great Britain, Ltd., had four models on view—a W 20 on Dunlop pneumatic tyres, a 10-20, an F 12 and a T 20. The Ford Motor Co., Ltd., exhibits several tractors and a range of the new Fordson lorries. MasseyHarris, Ltd., and Marshall's of Gains
borough, both display tractors on Dunlop tyres. An impressive range of Allis-Chalmers
tractors is put forward by the lo distributor, Mr. F. L. C. Flew, Brc Clyst Garage, including a single-fro wheel Model WC on Goodyear tyres a a double-front-wheeled WC on Fi stones. The Ferguson tractor a equipment are exhibited by Men R. E. Glanville and Sons, Bovey Trac Messrs. Treloggen and Veitch, Southampton, are responsible for exhibit of Case tractors.• This show does not carry an ext sive display of road-transport vehic but, in addition to the Ford sta there is representation of Doi vehicles by Messrs. Long Bros., Exei and S. J. Skinner and Son, Li Plymouth.
