Drivers' hours law Hearing: Coleraine Magistrates' Court COUNTY Londonderry haulage firm Patrick Bradley has been fined a total of £1,500 for tachograph and drivers' hours offences.
In a prosecution brought by the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA), Coleraine Magistrates' Court was told how enforcement officers from the organisation carried out an investigation into vehicle operations at the company based in Craigall Quarry, Kilrea.
The firm produced drivers' hours records and officers noted several offences under the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations (NI) 1996 and the Road Traffic (NI) Order 1981.
The haulier was fined £100 for each of the following 15 offences: • one count of failing to produce record sheets; • three counts of causing or per mitting the failure to record data; • two counts of failing to carry out regular checks; • one count of failing to organise work; • eight counts of employing drivers while there were infringements pertaining to daily/weekly rests.
Summing up The DVA in Northern Ireland will investigate hauliers they believe have committed breaches of the drivers' hours regulations.
