Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Rugby Cement (RC) has confirmed TNT Logistics as its UK haulage contractor despite claims from owner-drivers that the new set-up was experiencing problems.

More than a year ago RC decided to scrap its network of

106 "independent contract hauliers" (ICHs) and hand over the entire contract to TNT.

Many of the ICHs subsequently left the business but some who remained claimed that RC's transport was left in difficulties after TNT took over (CM1-7 Nov 2001).

A spokeswoman for TNT asserts that: "All the independent contract hauliers were offered contracts with TNT. At the moment TNT has 165 drivers working on the contract; there are 52 ICHs still on the books."
