TO effect cheaper and quicker deliveries and to eliminate a certain amount of handling, Barton's Cooperage, Ltd., London, E.3, has inaugurated a 440-mile road service to carry whisky casks from its London factory to distilleries in Scotland.

The service is being operated by a leyland Beaver with a four-wheeled &antr specially equipped to carry 277 132

The vehicle is scheduled to leave London every Monday and to deliver at distilleries around Dumbarton, Glasgow, Alloa and Edinburgh. It returns to London with casks for repair. Rail transport had previously been used, casks being sent in batches of 50.
