emblazoned on the back of the lorry transporting Bill Chapman’s glass casket to his funeral on Friday 8 June.
The Norfolk haulier, who died aged 79, was carried to Mintlyn Crematorium in a purpose-built glass cabinet on loan from the family of another local haulier, Derek Cooper of Bury St Edmunds, whom Chapman was good friends with. The coffin was covered with a union flag, with Chapman’s army cap and military medals placed on the top.
Chapman started his King’s Lynn transport firm 40 years ago, which specialises in agricultural haulage, sugar beet carting and plant hire.
His son, Bernie, 57, and two grandsons Benjamin and William, will carry on the business.
Chapman died last month following a heart attack at Holmwood House care home in Swaffham, Norfolk.
