Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

KENT-BASED construction firm GSE Group has sold its tipper haulage arm to waste management operator TW Services, but will continue to host the business from its Ashford premises.

GSE director Colin Wright says the sale of GSE Haulage enables it to focus on developing its Waterbrook Park site, in order to build office, warehousing and industrial buildings.

“Our staff have transferred to TW Services,” he confirms. “They are operating the vehicles and workshop from our premises.

“We have gone into it as a joint venture because TW Services is going to be tipping into Waterbrook.” Wright says the sale includes the firm’s name and eight lorries. “With the recession taking a hold, particularly in the construction business, we thought this was too good an opportunity to miss.” All eight drivers have transferred to the new firm under TUPE arrangements.

Wright adds: “Its site is in Sandwich, so it makes sense for it to run from here.” TW Services, which has a licence authorising 62 vehicles and 13 trailers out of two depots, was unavailable for comment as CM went to press.
