MC GROUP, THE Volvo Truck and Bus dealer that covers a south coast area stretching from Essex to Dorset, was named Dealer of the Year at the Motor Transport Awards at Grosvenor House last week (13 June 2012).

Judges felt the dealer had displayed unequalled performance and recovery from the recession. They singled out its attitude to training and investing in its staff, providing a range of solutions for operators, strategies such as its Customer Relationship Management programme, and its willingness to offer a personalised approach to clients. All these attributes helped return the business to its prerecession levels of turnover.

“This award is for everyone in the company,” said Simon Dawson, MD of Kent-based Volvo dealership chain MC Group.

The secret of this dealer’s success? “It has to be our ability to offer the total solution,” says Dawson. “Whatever the question, the answer is never no.” Also shortlisted for the award were MAN dealer AN Richards; Mercedes-Benz dealer Sparshatts of Kent; and Volvo dealer Dennison Commercials.
