I can’t find a job!

I READ WITH interest your article on the LGV driver shortage (CM 14 June). I have 27 years’ experience, a clean licence, NVQ, National CPC, INT, and IOSH, etc, etc.

I was made redundant by Wincanton in 2010 after 25 years in the oil industry.

I am at the point of looking for alternative work due to agencies advertising “permanent” jobs, me being interviewed and tested by someone with no transport experience, only to be offered ad hoc work at a pay rate less than the rate of five years ago.

I was working with a Polish guy who lives here but pays his tax in Poland, resulting in a far better net pay.

Then we wonder why there is a shortage of decent British drivers.
