• European drivers are planning to blockade West Germany's border routes at the end of June in protest against the proposed German road lorry tax, which could cost UK hauliers up to £3,000 a year.
French transport union FNTR (Federation Nationale des Transports Routiers) is calling for support from hauliers across Europe to join the blockade, which will take place from 30 June-2 July. The proposed tax is scheduled to take effect from 1 July.
Other international haulage groups are preparing to take action against Germany.
The Belgian-based hauliers' body FEBATRA intends to block border roads and holiday routes if the tax goes ahead.
Germany has continued to ignore calls to halt its infrastructure tax plans. The EC has set up a special committee to examine the problem.
