• Safeguards for operators buying trucks have been unveiled by the Motor Agents Association.
This move covers all types of vehicles introduced at MAA member firms on 1 July. It will raise non-franchised truck dealer's standards, says the association.
Standards will be laid down to cover servicing, repairs, parts, warranties and premises. Regular inspections will be made by qualified engineers. If dealers do not meet the compulsory standards they will be expelled from the MAA. The association says truck dealers will be the last category to be inspected.
