• Truckrent is under the control of its fourth new owner in three years following the purchase of its parent company, Oxford-based motor group Hartwell, by the Saudi Arabian Jameel Group.
David Richardson, Truckrent's managing director, says the changes in ownership have been unsettling but have not affected the development of the business which has boosted turnover from V_Om in 1988 to £16m last year.
Truckrent's main business is contract-hire — it has a fleet of 1,300 vehicles and 11 spot rental sites. It was bought by Hartwell from Mercantile last summer and was originally owned by Unilever.
