• Dekra. the major German fleet testing and consultancy organisation, assembled an impressive 44-vehicle line-up ranging from a novel 7.5 tonnemini-reefer, by Chereau, to maximum-weight drawbar combinations for international haulage. Dekra also showed the first German-approved bulk flour tanker fitted with the Danish-made TransWeight integral weighing device as well as a Lohr-built car transporter with a demount superstructure for the towing vehicle.
DAF, which is to spearhead its campaign in East Germany with British-built Type 400 and 800 models, used Hanover for the first public presentation of a new parcels van with automaticallyoperated roller shutter.
The use of Al-Ko chassis extensions in a number of Fiat and Citroen conversions was shown by several exhibitors for low-height bodywork and light skip loaders.
VW specials included a
mobile office fully furnished with the latest telecommunications equipment. in a Transporter conversion and several TARO-based units for the building industry as well as municipal use. An H&S conversion of an LT 45 into an armoured VIP carrier was a sign of the times while the LT 55-based long timber transporter gave this model an unusual role for vehicles in this class.
