Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

for cranes

Long loads can be loaded on any part of a lorry platform and over either side of a vehicle with the independently powered lorry-mounted gantry crane from P.T. H. (Clitheroe).

The lorry loader has a travelling gantry with an overhead beam which can be swung through an arc of 180 degrees. It features full electrohydraulic control of all movements by means of push buttons grouped on a plug-in wander-lead.

The gantry overhead-lifting beam is pivoted at its centre and, at its inner end, it carries a roller which runs on a semi-circular track. When swung over to either side ready for lifting — it has a 1.2m (4 ft) reach — the beam engages with a large pin on that side of the overhead frame. This pin locates the beam and provides additional support. When the vehicle is travelling, the beam is secured at its mid-position. Power is provided by an 6 kW (8 hp) Briggs and Stratton four-stroke petrol engine, which is electrically started using a key switch and two push-buttons on the side of the gantry.

The engine has its own 12 V battery which is recharged as the engine runs. The unit also provides independent electrical power for operating accessories such as hazard lights, flood lights and solenoid control valves in the hydraulic system. A manual starting facility is also available for emergency use.

Price: between £2,000 and £2,500. Made by: P.T.H . (Clitheroe) Ltd, Primrose Industrial Estate, Clitheroe, Lancs.
