A NEW recruitment scheme aimed at people who cannot drive is being launched by London Transport with a view to solving its chronic bus driver problems. Applicants for the new scheme will be tested for aptitude on a simulator and then given a week's tuition on dual-control cars. After this they go on to the normal LT double-deck bus training programme. Previously only holders of full
driving licences could apply for direct-entry driver training.
