Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE FIRST of a series Of meetings to plan overnight parking bans in Glasgow was held last week between representatives of the city engineer's department, the police. the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association.

The parking bans will affect all vehicles over 11/2 tons unladen — including buses and it is expected that they will be introduced in nine months' time and certainly before May 15 next year when Glasgow comes under the new local government area of Strathclyde.

Mr Jack Welsh, secretary of the Scottish area of the ETA, told CM that the Association welcomed the opportunity to be in at this early stage of the planning.

Mr A. Malcolm, of the city engineer's department, hoped that by taking the views of the operators now they would eliminate the risk of delays. And despite the fact that there was a great deal of temporary space available following an extensive demolition programme in Glasgow, the ad hod committee, he said, would be looking at permanent sites only.
