fire brigades as regards Plating and Testing Regulations. Where can I obtain official confirmation as to the types of vehicle exempt from the Regulations and, for vehicles not exempt, where does one obtain application forms for tests?
A The classes of vehicle to which the .-"1 Plating and Testing Regulations do not apply are listed in Schedule 2 of the regulations. Included in the 33 classes is class 8, "Vehicles designed for fire fighting or fire salvage purposes". The Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) Regulations 1968 No. 601 are obtainable from any newsagent or HM Stationery Office, price 3s 9d.
All applications for test appointments have to be made to the Ministry of Transport's Goods Vehicles Centre at Swansea on forms which can be obtained from MoT offices, LAs and Post Offices. This would apply to any vehicle which was not included in the exemption just mentioned and so comes within the requirements of these Regulations.
