G. McKay retired from the chair of the Conference of Omnibus Companies at last week's a.g.m. Mr. McKay has occupied the chair since June 1966. The new officers of the Conference ere: B. Griffiths (Tilling Association Ltd.), end W. L Sword, executive director, Western SMT Co. Ltd. H. E. Robson, 60, chairman of the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners and Licensing Authority, will succeed W. P. S. Ormond, chairman of the Eastern Commissioners and LA when Mr. Ormond retires at the end of the year. Mr. Robson took up his first MoT appointment in 1946. In 1 963 he became Transport Commissioner for Wales and Monmouthshire and in 1965 was appointed chairman of the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners. Mr. Ormond has been chairman of the Eastern Commissioners since 1951. The Civil Service Commissioners will be inviting applications for the chairman's post in Yorkshire shortly.

G. Dixon, transport manager of Birkenhead Cooperative Society, has retired after 49 years' service with the Society. He was appointed transport manager in 1952.

George Derek Cheatley. a Belfast accountant, has been appointed secretary and general manager of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Co., the body recently appointed by the Government to hold and manage the properties formerly owned by the Ulster Transport Authority.

T. Wylie has been promoted within the British Bakeries Group from transport manager to assistant regional transport manager.

Geoffrey E. Smith, 44, director of engineering for the Perkins Engines Group, has been appointed chairman and chief executive officer of the group's companies . in the USA and Canada—Perkins Engines Inc., of Wixom, Michigan, and Perkins Engines Canada Ltd., of Toronto.

Eric V. Tipper has been appointed director of the Institute of the Motor Industry II nc.). Mr. Tipper has been with the Institute since 1 946 and prior to his new appointment was general secretary. F. R. B. Wordsworth, assistant secretary of the Institute since 1963, has been appointed administrative secretary.

Wilfrid Andrews, chairman of the Royal Automobile Club, was on June 11 elected president of OTA (World Touring and Automobile Organisation). He is the first Englishman to hold the office.
