• An application by .a plant hire company to enter the waste disposal field in the North East was thwarted when its application for a B licence was refused in Newcastle on Friday.
Scottish Land Plant Hire Ltd., with a base at Birdey, wished to operate two Dinosaurs to carry waste building materials in containers, within 25 miles. Four waste disposal operators objected.
For the applicant, Mr. J. H. Henderson said it wished to give a specialist disposal service to the customers it already had in the building industry.
The Northern LA, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, said there was no evidence of a shortage of facilities in the area.
