Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leyland Daf is pushing ahead with its plans to provide replacement engines for a number of its Freighter, Cruiser and Constructor models, which will be needing new power units when the Rover Groupowned Leyland engine plant and foundry closes at the end of the year.

The first Leyland-designed chassis to be re-engined is likely to be the lightweight TL11Cpowered 30.26 eightlegger.

The most obvious replace

ment appears to be the Daf DHS 8.25-litre charge-cooled engine, which develops 198kW (265hp) and has a peak torque of 507Nm (687Ibft).

While the 30.26 looks set to gain the Daf engine, Leyland Daf could well decide to extend its current use of the Cummins B-series engine in heavier Freighter models as a replacement for the 400-series, and may even opt for the C-series in its 6 x4 Constructors and lightweight Cruiser artics.
