• A group of former Highland Scottish drivers is operating eight minibus routes in Inverness in competition with their former employer. The drivers have formed a company, Inverness Traction, which is using a fleet of 12 D-registered Freight Rover Sherpas with 16-seater bodies.
Highland Scottish has responded by introducing 25-seat "Highland Terrier" Renault minibuses and by reducing its fares (except on Sundays when Inverness Traction does not run). Other local Highland Scottish routes are still worked by conventional doubledeckers, and some routes are being duplicated by using vehicles borrowed from other Scottish Bus Group companies.
Frequencies of the Inver
ness Traction routes range from 20 to 30 minutes, and its minibuses are radio-controlled. A timetable leaflet is available: Highland Scottish has no similar publication.
