Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE West Midlands region of the Trade Union Congress is pressing for a four-day working week.

More than two million West Midlands trade unionists will receive a circular this week urging them to start negotiations with their employers to achieve these ends.

Sharp increases this week in the number of unemployed are expected to strengthen the four day week claim.

TUC regional chairman and TGWU regional secretary Brian Mathers said that the campaign for a four day week had been adopted as official policy and that they were asking affiliated unions to support them.

"The object is to cut down on the numbers of people who are unemployed," he said.
