EXPANSION of the Leeds Containerbase due to cost around flm was announced by the Containerbase Group on Tuesday.
The work will be centred around the development of a six-acre site to give a new 30,000sqft transit shed with additional parking for around 150 trailers, which will push throughput at the base to 4,000 tons a week.
The site has a capability to serve the nearby wool industry area of Bradford and West Yorkshire and the existing site will be developed to include the ability to handle more baled wool.
A new gatehouse and security block plus new engineering maintenance and canteen facilities will also be added to the site.
And it is expected that the company will be investing around E200,000 in new fork lift trucks and new cargo handling equipment to cope with expected increase in freight throughput.
