Alexander and Sons (Northern), Ltd., with headquarters at Aberdeen. Mr. John M. Howard has been appointed a director of B.E.T. Omnibus Services, Ltd., in place of the late Lord Gifford.

The George Cohen 600 Group. Ltd., announce that Mr. John P. Bolton has been appointed managing director for their Australian subsidiary, George Cohen Sons and Co. (Australia) Pty., Ltd., of Sydney. He succeeds the late Mr. C. A. Bell.

Mr. H. E. Martin4Rake has been appointed general manager (Engineering and Production) of Kismet. Ltd., of

Bedford and Sheffield. This is a new appointment. For the past two years Mr. Martin-Leake has been chief industrial engineer of the Iranian Oil Refining Company at Abadan.

Obituary

We record with deep regret the deaths of Mr. Herbert Cooke and Mr. W. Storey.

Mr. Cooke, managing director of H. Cooke (Removals), Ltd., Nuneaton, was 67.

Mr. Storey was a former pit boy who rose to be owner or director of about 30 companies employing 600 men with headquarters at South Elmsall, Yorks. He started his one-lorry haulage business in the '30s and in the past 20 years he acquired ownership of many transport and quarry companies which included Woodseats (Sheffield) Transport, Ltd., C. H. Parker Transport (Barnsley), Ltd., Barnsley and District Transport Co., Ltd.. Blaxton Sand and Gravel Co., Ltd., the Long Lane Hard Limestone Co. (Bakewell), Ltd., and the West Riding Wagon Co., Ltd. He was 54 and leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters.
