GLASGOW-BASED multi-modal business John G Russell (Transport) has made a return to profit, despite what it describes as a "gradual erosion of activity" in the economy.
The company finished the year ending 31 March 2009 with a turnover of £50.2m, up from 1.47m the year before, including an £8.3m contribution from its chest freezer-making division. Tcetech Freezers.
Revenue in its transport and warehousing division rose by 16% from £36m in 2008 to £41.9m in 2009.
Overall, John G Russell (Transport) made a pre-tax profit of £1.2m, compared with a pre-tax loss of £759,476 in 2008, where it was hampered by the below-par performance of Icetech.
