Engineering, has died after a short illness. He was 59. He joined Voith in 1955, was made transmissions division manager in 1970 and rose to general manager in 1983. He started his engineering career at Hull Technical College, leaving with an honours degree in mechanical engineering in 1949. He spent four years as a post graduate with Brush Electrical Engineering, and later joined North British Locomotive in Glasgow as a design engineer.
