IN-CAB PHONE FROM FORD • Ford is now offering operators a cellular phone kit with a recommended retail price of 2821 ex-VAT. The company has also reduced the recommended price of its current system, which was launched by Ford Telecommunications in August 1986, from 21,195 to 2935, and new leasing arrangements are available to spread the cost of operation.

Customers financing their Ford and Iveco Ford commercial vehicles through Ford Motor Credit Co are now able to inlcude the cost of the telephone as part of an overall leasing package. Alternatively, a Ford owner may enter into separate leasing agreements which, in the case of the lower-priced system, will cost approximately 25 a week over five years.

Both phones feature handsoff operation; alpha-numeric displays; 32-digit dialling; twotier electronic locks to prevent unauthorised use or block international dialling; last number recall, and automatic re-dial to an engaged number every 20 seconds.
