Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Britain's first Iveco Ford 38-tonne 6x 2 twin-steer Cargo 3828 tractive unit hit the road this week, going into service with R D Chisholm Haulage of Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire as an aggregate tipping artic. The company has bought the pre-production model Iveco Ford used to launch the 6x2 at the Scottish Motor Show last November.

The 3828 will run in a mixed fleet of 11 tractor units. It is fitted with an optional Eaton Twin Splitter 12-speed gearbox, the 208kW Cummins L-10 diesel engine and a Rockwell drive axle.

Chisholm has settled on the Cummins-Eaton-Rockwell combination for its complete fleet of 38-tonne, maximum-weight articulated units.

Chisholm plans to double shift the 3828 and push it to about 1,000km a day during its first year of service. IFT engineers will monitor its progress closely.

Coupled to a Don-Bur 30.6e tipping semi-trailer in a 3 + 3 configuration, the 3828 will give Chisholm a payload of 25 tonnes.

The 3 + 3 layout Ills been chosen because it gives extra stability, reduces drive axle overloading, minimises tyre scrub and produces an annual vehicle excise duty saving of £2,860, according to company boss Dave Chisholm.
