MAN-VW's British management certainly believes in hedging its bets.
In an advertisement for a strengthened force of salesmen for its dealers, it says: "... we aim to double our market share in less than five years."
Turn, then, to the company's press release on the same story and what do we find group director Richard Ide saying? No less than: "We are backing our dealers to help them meet the planned tripling of market share for MAN-VW in Britain in three years."
Perhaps both statements are true and the company plans to reduce its market share in the fourth and fifth years. Could it?
