WE RECORD with regret the deaths of Jack Sankey, engineering manager with United Glass road transport subsidiary United Distribution Services, and Donald Boxall, past general manager and director of Nightingale Engineering, a subsidiary of Atkinson Vehicles,

During his 17 years with UDS, Mr Sankey saw the distribution department in which he worked progress to the trading company United Distribution Services. It now has 250 vehicles and five regional workshops in Scotland, Yorkshire, Carlisle, Lancashire and Bedfordshire.

Mr Sankey died peacefully after a short illness.

Mr Boxall started his career as an apprentice with Daimler moving through the service department and field service engineering to a senior position in the sales force before the second world war.

After the war he joined Leyland Motors' export division. In the early fifties he joined Nightingale Engineering as general manager and director until his official retirement in 1965, He was kept on for two more years, taking over the Atkinson South African interests.
