Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I NOTE the somewhat sarcastic comment on the new book "Elements of Transport" by Schumer in the issue of The Commercial Motor dated December 31, and take leave to disagree with you almost entirely. The book is, in my own and many other opinions, the best that has yet appeared to aid the transport student, for whom the book is primarily intended; what appears to be obvious to you and me is not necessarily so to the newcomer to the transport industry.

One can go through most textbooks and find such points as you have criticized, e.g. I have been a reader of your journal for a great number of years and will continue to read it, if only for the sterling worth of the articles on costing by " S.T.R.," but if I based my estimation of its worth on the pathetic bleatings of " Janus " I would have ceased to be a reader long ago.
