University researchers are helping to develop a formula to predict the lifespan of a pothole repair that could help anticipate when it will need refilling before a moon-sized crater reappears. A study, funded by the Institution of Civil Engineers and carried out by the Universities of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent, has confirmed that the presence of water accelerated pothole cracks and its rate of erosion.
