• Northern Counties is offering a bus repainting service from its Wigan coachbuilding premises in an attempt to broaden its service to operators. David Cherry, Northern Counties managing director, says the company will offer traditional brush painting. Work is already underway on a number of double deckers from Nottingham, and a further 15 vehicles from Lincoln are due to be painted in the next few weeks.
• Five top-specification Reeve Burgess mini buses, based on the Dodge S56 chassis, have been purchased by London Country (North West) for use on its Hampstead Hoppa service. The vehicles are fitted with automatic transmission, and also feature power steering.
• A proposed trolley bus scheme for Bradford is being presented to the EEC by West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, It hopes that the Community will provide a grant towards the cost of the scheme. VVYPTE estimates that it will need to spend £200,000 on preparing routes and 250,000 on vehicles this year, with a further £5 million spent on introducing the service in 1988/89.
• Greater Manchester Buses has ordered 50 lveco Ford 49.10 Turbo Daily chassis, with Robin Hood bodywork for use in Manchester from the end of March. The vehicles, together worth 21.2 million, were supplied by North West Iveco Ford dealer H and J Quick.
