Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• United Parcel Services has extended its UK network after reaching new agreements with nine regional courier companies.

The deal represents the second stage of an expansion programme currently being undertaken by UPS (Holdings), which was set up last year following the amalgamation of United Parcels Services (Midlands) with Esher Park Deliveries and Blue Line Services.

The new agreement gives UPS further coverage in Tyne and Wear, Essex, Herts, Bucks, Kent, Hants, Gloucester, Lincolnshire, South

Wales, Dorset and East and South Yorkshire. Each new courier company will be responsible for sales, collections and deliveries within their own county, while deliveries and collections destined for other areas are carried out by UPS.

According to UPS each new company will retain its independence while befitting from the national sales and organisation of UPS (Holdings).

UPS currently operates some 80 vehicles. Its main hub centres are at Glasgow, Manchester, Leicester, Heathrow and Bristol. Its head offices, however, are at Evesham, Worcestershire.
