Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

will my existing insurance premium cover this or will I have to buy an extra premium to cover the trailer? Is the value of the vehicle a factor which influences the insurance premium charged?

The normal vehicle policy usually excludes drawing a trailer other than a broken-down vehicle though there are a few insurers who include a trailer. The safest way to ensure that trailers are included is to check with the insurance company concerned. Either third party or comprehensive cover should be available, but in most cases an extra premium will be payable.

In general, the value of the vehicle is not taken into account though many insurers do make an extra charge where the value of the vehicle exceeds a stipulated amount.
