A SINGLE-AXLE semi-trailer has been fitted out internally as a mobile exhibition unit by Contact (Bournemouth) Ltd, to display equipment for assisting the disabled.
The trailer, which is fitted with a Ratcliff Foldaway tail
lift and tractive unit, was built by Pem Trailers Ltd of Bournemouth and was financed by the Spastics Society.
Inside the unit, known as the Visiting Aids Centre, visitors can examine a refer
ence card index showing over 500 aids with the names of their suppliers and their prices.
Equipment in the trailer covers children's aids, eating and food preparation, domestic and toilet articles, recreational aids and wheelchairs. There are also automatic telephone dialling machines and an audio-visual display device including an external projection screen to attract the attention of passers-by.
Small items such as rubber bottle openers, elastic shoelaces and a substance for enlarging cutlery handles are on sale.
The exhibition unit will tow towns and cities in the South of England, spending about 10 days in each location.
