Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MEMBERSHIP of an association was desirable, for it makes matters much easier for administrators, said Mr. IL Ramsbottom. 0.B.E., M.P., at the annual dinner of the Morecambe, Heysham and District Coach Owners Association, last Friday. Control had brought some disadvantages and irritation, but operators were reaping benefit by the stability and efficiency produced by the Act. Figures proved that the industry was making steady progress, the only section in which there was a slight fall being that concerned with express services.

The industry needed more Members of Parliament like Mr. Ramsbottom, said Councillor Clifford Thomas, C.M.U.A. South Wales Divisional secretary. They. would certainty be asking him for his help in the near future, Even to-day there was severe competition and all should be given the same opportunities as the combines.

The Association was pressing for reductions in fuel and Road Fund taxation, and he felt that excursion and tour operators should have special relief, in view of the fact that their vehicles were working for only four months a year. Trade was iincreasing and both passenger and goods operators should be able to share in it.

Difficulties had fairly rained upon operators since the Road Traffic Act became law, said Mr. C. M. Gilbert. In this connection, the technical Press had done a power of good in welding together members of the industry.
