III A South London haulier has been found guilty of over £500,000 of tax evasion following a three-year investigation by Customs and Inland Revenue.
Daniel Thomas Andrews, 33, from Swanley in Kent, was found guilty by Southwark Crown Court of presenting false invoices worth over Lim to evade VAT payments of £250,000. Another £300,000 in income tax was also evaded by the payment of off-record wages.
The offences occurred while Andrews ran two South-London tipper companies, J&A Transport and its successor, Andrews Haulage (London); both based at the VIP Trading Estate in Charlton.
Andrews, who is bankrupt, awaits sentencing.
In an attempt to recoup what he owes, restraint orders have been obtained from the High Court freezing the assets of the Andrews family and its businesses.
