Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• AWD's long-awaited assault on the UK tractor market will begin in earnest next year, with the pilot build of the first 32-tonne GCW TL tractors beginning in March. The TL tractor will be powered by the 8.3litre Cummins 6CTAA chargecooled engine, which is already fitted by Foden in the 3000 Series and by ERF in its ES8 and E8 multi-wheelers and middleweight artic.

Power from the 6CTAA engine is 198kW (265hp) with peak torque of 950Nm (700Ib It) at 1,500rpm (both figures gross). It will be coupled to an Eaton Fuller 6109 nine-speed synchromesh box.

Following the 32-tonne IL tractor, which will be available in downplated form by the summer, will be a TL 6x4 rigid and 17132 tonne drawbar 4x2 prime-mover chassis using the same drivelines.

Completing the TL range will be an MTL 32.5-tonne GCW Multidrive model, which is expected to be on the market by the summer.

As yet AWD is not revealing the final specification of its :38tonne tractor, but it now appears that the company is keeping an open mind on whether to use a face-lifted version of the old TM cab, or to examine other cab options. The choice of power train also remains undecided, but Cat and Cummins LIO engines are strong contenders, and a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine is also being evaluated.
