MR, A. R. BURTON, general manager of West Hartlepool Transport Department, is to retire on account of ill health.

MR. G. H. BEDFORD, Of the National Coal Board, has been appointed a member of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee for the South-Western Area. He represents industry.
MR. R. K. LEEpER has become chairman of the Lep Group and has been succeeded as managing director by Ma. R. J. D. LEEPER. MR. M. H. R. GOVETT has been elected a director of the group MR. R. H. 13ArcHELoR, a director of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., is to retire at the end of the year. He has been with the company for 37 years. and was appointed to the board as export director in 1949. Since 1955 he has been deputy director of supply.
MR. H. I. WOODGATES, transport manager of Barclay Perkins and Co., Ltd., has resigned after 11 years' service to join H. Lotcry and Co., Ltd., uniform manufacturers,. as sales manager. He was formerly with the motor department of Thomas Tilling. Ltd., and with the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co.. Ltd.
MR. PHILIP VENABLES is to retire from his post as manager, mileage contracts, south, of the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd. He joined the company 2.8 years ago. MR. R. C. ROBINSON has become mileage manager, south. His former position of mileage manager, north, has been assumed by MR. A. BROWN, previously manager of the service department, a post now held by MR. H. MOUNTFORD.
"CONSULT GOODS LICENSING SECTION" NAEMBERS of the Northern Division LV1 of the Traders' Road Transport Association have been told that the goods licensing section of the T.R.T.A. and the Road Haulage Association is specially qualified to deal with applications for short-term B licences. T.R.T.A. members who contemplate making such applications should communicate with their divisional office. giving details of what is required, and the application will be prepared for them and lodged with the Licensing Authority.
If necessary, members will be represented at any inquiry held to decide an application.
