MI Nottingham bather Robert Hortor has ceased trading after being told that his operating centre of the last ten years is no longer adequate on safety grounds.

Hortor says his premises were visited by a traffic examiner over May Bank Holiday, while he wasn't there.

On receiving a copy of the traffic examiner's report regarding his site, the deputy North Eastern Traffic Commissioner then wrote to Hortor to say that his operating centre on a farm at Kinoultor. Notts, would be removed from his Operator's Licence in two months, in order to give him time to find a new operating centre.

"But how can anyone do that? This is effectively closing us down," says Hortor.

His five vehicles and six trailers are up for sale: two Scanias plated at 44 tonnes along with two Volvos and another Volvo plated at 40 tonnes. One of his subcontractors has taken over most of his work, which was nationwide general haulage.
