Alan Dodd gave this example: In the morning a coach does a 40 children to school and 12 adults to work trip, and returns for the children at 4pm, after a couple of shopping journeys during the day when it may carry a dozen to a score of passengers, according to the attractions of that day — say a route distance of 15 miles. Around 5pm to 5.30pm the same vehicle and driver will collect its 12 workers. The education department pays for the school journeys. Some services may also run a colliery or refinery trip around 10prn.
