NEW SWEDISH 10-TON DUMPER A NEW type of dumper, known as the Rockerman, has been developed by the Swedish concern, A.B. Akermans. Esleiv. It has a two-way cab and a nonhydraulic, self-tipping body. It weighs 81 tons and the body has a struck capacity of 61 cu. yd. The dumper has

an overall length of 16 ft. 9 in. and a width of 9 ft. 2 in.

A Volvo-Penta six-cylindered 115 b.h.p. oil engine provides the power, and the transmission gives three speeds both forward and in reverse. The steering incorporates a servo, and there are two steering wheels and sets of pedals, with a reversible driver's seat.

No details are given of the self-tipping system, but the body is stated to have a triple-plated bottom, which has a replaceable top plate of manganese steel.
