AMOBILE showroom carrying Calor-gas, fresh-water and waste-water containers and fitted with radiotelephone link and cold-cathode lighting was recently placed in service by the North Western Gas Board, Liverpool Group, at the Kirkby Housing Estate. Drawn by a Karrier Bantam tractor, it is designed to serve outlying estates until fixed showrooms, can be established.

The body of the articulated vehicle was built by S. H. Bond, Ltd., Rusholme, Manchester. The outfit measures 25 ft. by 7 ft. 6 in. and has an unladen weight of 5 tons 8 cwt. The showroom, which includes a small office and cupboards for storing spare parts, gas pokers and accessories, is framed in hardwood, impregnated against fire. Between this and the exterior aluminium panelling there is Isoflex insulation.

Cold-cathode lighting can be operated from batteries Fitted to the semi-trailer and the tractor, and, when .static, from the mains. The radio-telephone link for quick transmission of orders, inquiries and complaints to group headquarters a--.1 control, was supplied by the Automatic Telephone and Electric Co., Ltd. It is a V.H.F. transmitterreceiver and it works on a duplex system in a band of 156 to 184 mcs, which gives both conversations without need to switch over.
