Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

HATCHER COMPONENTS launched two air deflectors at the show: one that adjusts electronically to match trailer height and one for fridges. The adjustable spoiler can cater for trailers from 4.1m to 4.6m in height. The driver controls the deflector adjustment via a handheld device; the deflector features a sensor that detects the trailer’s height, and when the deflector is correctly positioned, a button on the handheld device illuminates, informing the driver to cease adjustment. It can be fitted to trucks from Mercedes-Benz, DAF, Scania, MAN, Iveco and Volvo.

The fridge deflector is manually adjusted. Hatcher MD Brian Getley said the deflector helps with fridge maintenance at height as it has a non-slip catwalk and the fully opened up deflector acts as a barrier.

Hatcher also showcased its progress with active variant of Fred die, the bespoke deflector that the firm developed with Mercedes-Benz

for the Axor (CM 15 April 2010). The

active Freddie will adjust for trailer height, while sensors at the front of the deflector detect wind pressure and small actuators adjust the spoiler to counteract wind directions. Getley estimated a 3% fuel saving compared with the existing, static, Freddie.

Active Freddie is expected to be available to Mercedes customers by the end of the year.
