I FIND It disgusting that Alex Fiddes, VOSA operations director, should ind the imprisonment of three drivers a “tremendous result” for VOSA (CM 7 April).
I do not condone nor condemn drivers and operators who consider drivers’ hours too restrictive and exceed the set limits. However, a week is 168 hours long, and drivers’ hours are set at an average of 45 per week, so if a hard worker – a rare thing in the UK today – wishes to drive longer hours, then why not? Sending Fiddes ‘down’ would be a “tremendous result” for me.
